okia and Andorix are partnering to accelerate the adoption of private 5G networks and neutral host networks in the US and Canadian real estate market. This collaboration aims to provide property owners with a dedicated 5G cellular platform to connect operational technology (OT) use cases, such as energy management and physical security.
The partnership will bring together Nokia's expertise in private wireless services and its Digital Automation Cloud (DAC) and MX Industrial Edge (MXIE), with Andorix's experience in designing and deploying converged network infrastructure in real estate environments. This combination is expected to improve tenant satisfaction by expanding indoor cellular coverage and enabling value-added edge applications.
The collaboration will focus on bringing fast, reliable 5G connectivity to commercial, retail, residential, and industrial properties, making it easier to deploy new technologies like virtual reality (VR) and indoor navigation, as well as facilitating internet of things (IoT) deployments. Nokia has already deployed private wireless networks for 890 customers globally, with 24% in North America.
Commenting on the partnership, Willie Kopp, head of enterprise campus edge sales for North America at Nokia, said: "Private 5G networks are transforming how enterprises operate, and in-building connectivity is a critical piece of that puzzle." Wayne Kim, founding partner and CEO of Andorix, added: "We are excited to partner with Nokia to deliver cutting-edge 5G solutions that meet the evolving needs of enterprise clients."
Separately, Nokia announced it was working with Colt Technology Services and Honeywell to explore quantum-safe networking using satellite communications. The companies plan to test new ways of protecting encrypted optical network traffic from risks presented by potential quantum computing breakthroughs.
