P
atrick Carroll has been dealing with turmoil for over a year, sparking controversy with erratic behavior and run-ins with local police in three states. He was hospitalized or jailed multiple times, including recently for an outstanding arrest warrant on a stalking charge that was later dropped. This week, he publicly revealed the root cause of his problems: bipolar disorder.
According to Carroll's Instagram post to 1.2 million followers, his mental illness went undiagnosed for years and contributed to actions out of character. He stated that with treatment, he's working to understand himself better and grow. A friend close to Carroll said he's dedicating time to prioritize his health and help others facing mental health issues.
Carroll has been involved in several high-profile incidents, including firing a shotgun on his Miami Beach boat dock for no reason, getting into arguments at a Rolls-Royce dealership and an Apple store, and leading police on a chase in Los Angeles. He was also arrested in Wyoming after a warrant was issued for his arrest on an aggravated stalking charge that was later dropped.
Carroll recently launched private investment firm 999 Holdings and sold Atlanta-based Carroll Organization to RMR Group for $80 million last year. His friend emphasized that Carroll's behavior is uncharacteristic of who he really is, stating that he hopes people understand this and that his actions were not intentional.
