Photographer Annie Leibovitz Sells Historic NYC Townhouse

Photographer and real estate enthusiast continues successful sales streak.

R
enowned photographer Annie Leibovitz has sold her West Village condo for $8 million, a half-million less than its initial listing price. The sale comes on the heels of Leibovitz's recent real estate activity, including the offloading of her Central Park West co-op for $10.625 million in February.

The 3,200-square-foot loft, located at 495 West Street, boasts industrial details such as exposed concrete and steel-frame windows with Hudson River views. The apartment also features luxurious touches like heated bluestone floors, a wood-burning fireplace, and a soaking tub. Leibovitz had set up the space as an artist's photography studio.

Designed by architect Cary Tamarkin, the building is known for its luxury condos that still feel like artists' lofts. The property was listed with Corcoran's Deborah Kern, who also represented Leibovitz in the sale of her Central Park West apartment. The buyer remains anonymous, as the property was purchased through an LLC.

Leibovitz had acquired the condo just two years ago for $6.5 million, making a profit of around $1 million after broker's fees. This appears to be her last property in New York City, although she still owns a 228-acre estate in Rhinebeck, which she considers her "family home."
