iley Newman, a top pickleball player, is trading the West Coast for New York City and will be calling the Sky building on 42nd Street home. The 60-story glass tower offers a range of amenities, including a pickleball court that was added in 2023.
Newman, who will rent a one-bedroom apartment for around $5,000 a month, is excited about the opportunity to play pickleball and work out at the building's gym. "I'll be playing a lot of pickleball there," he said. The building has a history of attracting athletes, including Kristaps Porzingis and Sasha Vujacic when they played for the Knicks.
Newman's new apartment is 600 square feet with floor-to-ceiling windows, oak floors, and an open kitchen. He loves the views of the water and downtown Manhattan. "The views are amazing," he said. The building also features multiple pools, including an indoor pool and two outdoor pools, as well as a gym designed by Life Time Athletic.
As a member of the Brooklyn Pickleball Team and the PPA tour, Newman is looking forward to competing in New York City. He's also excited to attend Knicks and Yankees games, which he says are unmatched in terms of energy and passion. "I'm a huge sports fan," he said.
