Prince William and Kate's Multi-Million Pound Property Holdings

The Prince and Princess of Wales' house-hopping history revisited before Windsor move.

P
rince William and Kate Middleton are on the move again, this time to Forest Lodge in Windsor Great Park. The Georgian mansion, built in the 1700s and renovated in 2001, is just five miles from their current home, Adelaide Cottage. However, the relocation has sparked controversy as two families nearby were asked to leave their homes and relocate within the park.

The couple's history of house-hopping dates back to their college days at St. Andrews University in Scotland. They met in 2001 and became roommates with friends Fergus Boyd and Olivia Bleasdale at 13A Hope Street, a modest gray stone house on a student-filled street. Despite initial concerns from the landlord, William's normalcy and pleasant demeanor won her over.

Their college apartment was equipped with bulletproof windows and a bomb-proof front door due to security concerns. However, it was still a typical college experience, with William shopping at Safeway and doing chores. The couple's romance blossomed amidst quiet nights listening to music and cooking meals together, but their parties also drew complaints from neighbors.

After two years, they moved to Balgove House, an old cottage in the countryside owned by William's cousin Henry Cheape. This more secluded location allowed them to explore their relationship further, with open countryside walks and cozy evenings by the fire. After graduating in 2005, Kate and William lived apart for several years before reuniting when he took a job as a search-and-rescue pilot on Anglesey in 2010.
