orthwest Iowa residents, don't forget that the second and final payment of your 2024-25 property taxes is due. County treasurers remind you that this payment can be made without penalty by March 31st.
As a property owner, you're required to pay half-yearly taxes on your real estate every six months or opt for an annual payment. The first payment was due in the fall, with the final payment now due if not already paid. If you have a mortgage, your lender likely pays your property taxes through an escrow account.
You can pay your taxes online at www.iowatreasurers.org, but be aware that there's a convenience fee involved. Credit card payments incur a percentage-based and flat fee, while e-checks are less than $1. County treasurer offices in the four-county area are open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
When paying in person or by mail, include the proper stub received last fall. If your county has a drop box, payments must be deposited before 4:30 p.m. on March 31st. For more information, contact your county treasurer's property tax department.
