P
oet Cornelius Eady and novelist wife Sarah Micklem are selling their historic 1860 farmhouse on Long Island for $675,000. The couple purchased the property in Center Moriches for $349,000 in 2017, when Eady was teaching at SUNY Stony Brook and directing its Poetry Center.
The residence features multiple skylights that flood the interior with natural light. A well-lit office area is one of several charming spaces within the two-story, four-bedroom home. The mid-19th century farmhouse boasts hardwood floors, original stairs, and a formal dining room area.
Outside, the property includes landscaped grounds with trimmed hedges, seasonal blooms, and mature trees. A barn-style garage provides additional storage space. At 1,800 square feet, the home sits on just under a third of an acre, making it an ideal retreat for writers and artists.
Eady is known for his powerful poetry, including "Gratitude" and "Brutal Imagination," which tackled a true crime story from 1994 in South Carolina. The property listing is handled by Palmer Gaget of Douglas Elliman.
