shooting at Blackstone's offices on 345 Park Avenue left four victims dead, including top executive Wesley LePatner. LePatner was a highly respected figure in the real estate industry and had been featured on Business Insider's power player list in 2022. As global head of core+ real estate and CEO of Blackstone Real Estate Income Trust, she played a key role at the $1.2 trillion firm.
Blackstone described LePatner as "beloved" and said her death has left staff "heartbroken." The statement praised her intelligence, passion, and generosity, saying she embodied the best qualities of the company. LePatner had previously spoken about the challenges of building a multibillion-dollar business from scratch.
The shooting was carried out by Shane Tamura, who died from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound in the building. The incident is still under investigation.
