rosecutors have asked a judge to deny bail to the Alexander brothers, Oren, Alon, and Tal, who were charged with sex trafficking conspiracy in a case involving dozens of victims from Miami Beach to New York. The twins, Oren and Alon, also face separate sexual battery charges in Miami.
According to prosecutors, the brothers used force, threats, fraud, and coercion to sexually assault women for over a decade. Some victims were drugged and left unable to speak or move, with partial memories of their assaults. The indictment alleges that the brothers worked together to repeatedly drug, sexually assault, and rape dozens of victims.
The Alexander brothers have been the subject of several lawsuits by women alleging they were raped and possibly drugged. Until recently, Oren and Alon were fixtures of the jet set, attending high-profile parties in Miami, New York, and the Mediterranean. Their real estate firm, the Alexander Team, boasts sales worth over $7 billion in luxury markets.
Prosecutors cited witness accounts that the brothers began engaging in acts of sexual violence, including gang rapes, while still in high school. A memo asking for bail denial states that victims reported hearing about the assaults at school, with the brothers boasting about "running a train" on their victims.
The charges come after a string of lawsuits accusing the brothers of rape and sexual assault. The law firm representing several women who've accused the Alexanders of rape said they applaud the survivors who have spoken up about their experiences.
Prosecutors are urging the judge to deny bail, citing the nature of the crimes, the brothers' wealth, and their close connections to Israel, where extradition can be a drawn-out process. They argue that the brothers pose an ongoing danger to the community and present a serious risk of flight.
