These boots are made for walking into a conversation about DEI, because the business of Real Estate relies heavily on diversity, equity, and inclusion. Without it, the industry would be vastly different.
As Realtors who specialize in transforming properties, we rely on diverse crews, vendors, and specialists who contribute to our success. They're not just hardworking individuals; they're also taxpayers, contributors to Social Security and Medicare, and an integral part of the labor force. Our team is a microcosm of the global community, with members from various backgrounds, including Persian, Irish, Mexican, Brazilian, Japanese, Colombian, Korean, Salvadoran, Guatemalan, and English.
The importance of diversity and equality in our practice cannot be overstated. We're not just talking about numbers; we're talking about people who bring unique perspectives, skills, and experiences to the table. By embracing DEI, we create a more inclusive and equitable environment that benefits everyone involved.
As someone who's passionate about DEI, I'm making conscious choices in my personal life to support companies that share these values. It's not just about boycotting companies that perpetuate racism, misogyny, homophobia, and xenophobia; it's also about choosing to align my dollars with my conscience.
Let's be real – we're all immigrants, just a few generations removed. We're descendants of people who arrived on these shores from other nations, seeking liberty, freedom, hope, and promise. It's time for us to recognize the value that diversity brings to our collective gardens and ensure that everyone has an opportunity to thrive.
I'm proud of COMPASS' commitment to DEI, which starts at the top with our founder Robert Refkin and trickles down through every facet of the company. With over 30,000 Agents nationwide, we're a diverse and inclusive organization that welcomes people from all walks of life.
To my fellow immigrants, people of color, and fabulous women who have contributed to our success, I want to thank you for being part of our village. We couldn't do it without you. Let's come together to acknowledge, celebrate, and promote our many strengths and differences. How can we help one another?
