Rob Lowe on Securing the Most Coveted Media Time Slot After the Super Bowl

Rob Lowe's 'The Floor' Scores Big with Post-Super Bowl Fox Slot

R
ob Lowe's week is a double whammy on Fox. He's wrapping up his five-season stint as the star of "9-1-1: Lone Star" with a bang, and kicking off Sunday with the new season of competition series "The Floor," which just so happens to debut in the coveted post-Super Bowl time slot.

Lowe is thrilled about this development, calling it an "unbelievable honor." He explained to Variety that the post-Super Bowl spot is the most valuable real estate in media, and its selection is a testament to the show's addictive nature. "This show is hooking people from all walks of life," he said.

"The Floor" is a competition series created by John de Mol ("Big Brother," "Deal or No Deal," "The Voice"), where 100 contestants compete on an interactive LED game floor, answering trivia questions in various categories. The last person standing takes control of the entire floor and wins.

For Lowe, being chosen to follow the Super Bowl is a badge of honor. He believes it's a rare feat for a show to appeal to such a broad audience – kids, grandparents, college students, rural folks, and urbanites alike. "It's equal opportunity addicting," he said. "And finding content that everyone enjoys is getting harder by the day."
