eremy Morton, a well-known East End restaurateur, has acquired two high-profile parcels of land in Sag Harbor's waterfront area. The properties at 2 Main Street and 20 Long Island Avenue were listed for a combined $34 million before being sold to Morton, although the exact purchase price remains unclear. As the owner of several popular eateries on the East End, including Rick's Crabby Cowboy Café and Morty's Oyster Stand, Morton has sparked speculation about his plans for the parcels.
While Morton declined to comment on the acquisition, sources suggest that a restaurant may be a likely use for the properties. The listing was held by Compass' Hal Zwick and Jeffery Sztorc, who reported receiving numerous inquiries from potential buyers. Adam Potter, the former owner of the Long Island Avenue property, had previously planned to sell it back to the Southampton Community Preservation Fund to build affordable housing and expand Steinbeck Park. However, negotiations fell through due to local opposition and the properties were put back on the market last January.
