Sarasota-Manatee Real Estate Firms Merged into Miami Agency

Miami-based firm expands into Sarasota through acquisition of two local agencies.

T
he Keyes Co., Florida's largest independent real estate firm, has expanded into the Sarasota-Bradenton market through the acquisition of two local firms and the opening of a downtown office at 1433 Main St. The company acquired Signature Premier Properties Sarasota and Florida SunCoast Real Estate, with financial terms not disclosed.

Keyes President Christina Pappas says the acquisitions will allow the firm to make an impactful debut in a growing market, citing shared values such as personal service and community connection. Signature Premier Properties Sarasota has 60 agents, including New York transplants who leverage relationships in both markets to benefit clients.

The Sarasota market continues to see New York relocation activity, according to Kathleen Viard of Signature Premier Properties' parent company. Keyes is seen as a perfect partner to build on momentum since launching the Sarasota brokerage several years ago. Kathy Curd will serve as sales manager for the new Keyes Sarasota office.

Keyes also acquired Florida SunCoast Real Estate, co-owned by Barry and Sherry Grooms with 50 years of combined experience. Barry Grooms is a past president of Florida Realtors and consistently ranks among the top 2% of his market area. Sherry Grooms has held leadership positions within the industry.

Barry Grooms will become Southwest Florida regional manager for Keyes, helping identify merger opportunities and recruit top associates in the region. The company is "actively negotiating" with other Southwest Florida brokerages and target markets, according to Senior Vice President Steven Reibel.

The acquired firms will gain access to Keyes' tools and support systems, while adding professionals focused on growth and excellence to its network. The Keyes Family of Cos. reportedly closed over $10 billion in annual real estate sales and services in 2022 through its network of 3,600 associates and 58 offices.
