kanska has completed the Farokhzad Mathematics Center at Milton Academy in Massachusetts, transforming a former library into a state-of-the-art math facility. The 26,000-square-foot building features 20 new classrooms, collaborative spaces, an assembly area, and other resources for grades seven through 12.

"We're proud to have delivered this complex project that required meticulous planning, coordination, and execution," said Bryan Northrop, executive vice president of Skanska USA Building's New England region. "The Farokhzad Mathematics Center is a testament to our team's expertise in building educational facilities."

The new math space boasts open areas, natural light, and visibility, creating an innovative environment for students to learn and grow. Shadi Farokhzad, a member of Milton's Board of Trustees, said the building will foster collaborative learning and community-focused education.

Milton Head of School Alixe Callen expressed excitement about bringing math to the center of campus, citing recent investments in STEM spaces and programming. The Farokhzad Mathematics Center is part of a broader strategy to reimagine existing buildings and maximize resources on campus.

The renovation involved two phases, completed over 2021-2023, with Skanska re-mobilizing after finishing the first phase to complete the second. The project included interior demolition, abatement, and upgrades to mechanical systems, fire safety, and audio-visual technology.

The William C. Cox Library was relocated to Wigglesworth Hall, placing it at the heart of student life and providing more opportunities for independent and group study.
