otusa, a Barcelona-based hospitality company, has acquired the Eurostars Winter Haven in Miami Beach for $19.7 million. The 71-room Art Deco hotel, located at 1400 Ocean Drive, was completed in 1939. This purchase marks Hotusa's expansion into the Miami market, with its affiliate buying the property from an affiliate of Hersha Hospitality Trust, which acquired it in 2013 for $15.7 million.
The deal translates to a price per room of $277,465, significantly higher than the original sale price. Meanwhile, Hersha has been actively selling off its assets in Miami Beach, including the Blue Moon Hotel, which was sold to New York-based Blue Suede Hospitality for $16.6 million in May. Blue Suede secured a $27 million loan to refurbish the hotel and adjacent properties.
Other investors are also entering the Miami Beach market. Billionaire siblings Simon and David Reuben's investment firm is set to acquire a majority stake in the W South Beach, valued at over $400 million. Additionally, Tmgoc Ventures and Certares Management purchased the Ray Hotel Delray Beach for $57.7 million, while MG Developer bought Regency Miami Airport by Sonesta for $36 million, marking its entry into the hospitality sector.
