ANAMA CITY, Fla. - For many families, summer is the perfect time to find a new home. Local realtors say buyers have plenty of options in the Panhandle, making it an ideal season for house hunting.
Realtor Sanchez notes that many people wait until their kids are out of school before starting their search. As a result, spring and summer months see a surge in activity as families make moves and close on new homes. Bay County is particularly experiencing a rise in available properties due to military personnel relocating and an increase in development.
However, this abundance of options may lead to houses sitting on the market for longer periods. Sanchez recalls a time when buyers were competing fiercely over limited inventory, resulting in multiple offers on individual properties.
Despite a slowdown, Sanchez believes the local real estate market remains strong. According to recent numbers, median sales prices in Bay County have remained steady, with April 2025's median price matching that of April 2024 at $360,000.
For those looking for a new home, the Bay County Parade of Homes starts June 6, offering a chance to view numerous listings in the area.
