Tal Alexander Seeks Bail Reconsideration from Federal Judge

Tal Alexander's lawyers seek bail reconsideration, presenting $115M package to a federal judge.

T
al Alexander's lawyers are pushing a federal judge to reconsider bail, arguing that prosecutors withheld crucial evidence and that their client is not a flight risk. The new motion comes after Judge Lissette Reid ordered Tal to remain in custody until his trial, citing concerns about his wealth and family ties to Israel.

In the revised bail package, Tal's parents are offering to sign a bond secured by their entire assets, which include a $115 million portfolio of properties. Attorneys Milton Williams and Howard Srebnick argue that prosecutors failed to turn over "Jencks Act" material, written or recorded statements made by government witnesses before trial.

Tal's lawyers also claim that FBI special agent Justine Atwood provided biased testimony, stating that Tal posed a flight risk due to his wealth and family ties. However, they point out that Israel has an extradition treaty with the US, making it unlikely that Tal could evade justice if he fled to Israel.

To counter concerns about Tal's financial resources, his lawyers are offering to turn over financial documents and call witnesses to demonstrate that there is sufficient financial disincentive for him to flee. They also argue that prosecutors failed to provide evidence of Tal's finances beyond broad assertions of his wealth.

Judge Reid previously stated that the government met their burden to prove Tal was a flight risk, but Tal's lawyers are now pushing for reconsideration based on new information and arguments. The brothers' case has garnered significant attention due to allegations of sex trafficking and rape against them and their associates.
