A
Tallahassee real estate agent, known as "The Land Man," has been sentenced to 14 months in prison for failing to file income tax returns. Sedita Charles Cayson, 59, was found guilty of five counts of willfully evading taxes from 2017 to 2021. Court records show Cayson had a history of tax delinquencies and owed back taxes dating back to 2004-2007 and 2011-2013. Despite earning an average of $150,000 per year in real estate commissions, Cayson failed to file his returns for the specified years.

Cayson's online bio boasts impressive sales figures, claiming he built over 100,000 square feet of residential housing and sold over 10,000 lots and houses in various Tallahassee areas. However, evidence presented during trial revealed a different picture: a "serial non-filer" who consistently avoided paying his taxes.

In addition to the prison sentence, Cayson was ordered to pay $158,840 in restitution to the IRS and $34,755 in prosecution costs. He will serve one year of supervised release after completing his prison term.
