Texas Mansion Boasts Lavish Primary Suite in $8 Million Listing

$8 million estate near Houston features massive 4,400 sq ft primary bedroom.

A
sprawling $8 million estate near Houston boasts a primary suite that's as large as some houses, spanning 4,400 square feet. The 13,000-square-foot mansion at 401 Lakeshore Drive in El Lago is being marketed by Nancy Almodovar of Nan and Company Properties, Christie's International Real Estate. The sellers are relocating to Florida.

The estate features six bedrooms, a vehicle showroom, boat ramp, and helicopter access. A circular driveway wraps around five fountains behind a gated entry, flanked by two lion statues. "Buyers want a home where they can have fun," Almodovar said. "They can fish in their backyard, take a boat ride, or hop on the helicopter for dinner."

The main suite boasts a domed ceiling with outdoor stone pillars and a curved window offering views of Taylor Lake. This is Almodovar's latest "largest" listing, following her sale of the world's largest closet in Theresa Roemer's mansion three years ago.

After being listed at $2.5 million in 2017, the estate underwent a major renovation, updating its air conditioning units, kitchen, roof, and boat slip, among other features. El Lago is home to many entrepreneurs and remote workers, Almodovar noted. The area's median household income is $99,000, significantly higher than Houston's $63,000.

As the Houston market trends towards ultra-luxury sales, interest has picked up in recent weeks, according to Almodovar. Her company's first-time home buyer division saw a surge in activity over the weekend, with three new contracts signed compared to an average of three per month during the summer.
