Texas-based real estate investment firm has parted ways with its last remaining property in the town of Gates, marking a significant shift in the local retail landscape. Tabani Group's T Westgate Plaza NY, LLC sold the 2000-2042 Chili Ave. retail plaza to an ownership group led by TEI Equities LLC for approximately $5 million.
The sale comes just 17 months after Tabani Group acquired the three-parcel package, which included The Shoppes at Westgate and a Starbucks-anchored outparcel, for $11.3 million in November 2023. The group had already offloaded two of these properties: The Shoppes at Westgate for $5.4 million in July and the Starbucks outparcel for $2.875 million in February.
This transaction marks another milestone in Tabani Group's Rochester market endeavors, which began with the acquisition of Elm Ridge Center from receivership in 2021. Although they sold a significant portion of the primary plaza building to Wegman Companies later that year, Tabani maintained ownership of the Walmart-leased space.
