T
he latest report from Redfin shines a light on the most coveted neighborhoods across America, where the allure of suburban charm meets urban convenience. By analyzing year-over-year growth in listing views and a proprietary Compete Score, Redfin identified the top 10 hottest neighborhoods of 2025 – and five of them are nestled in Midwest suburbs.
According to Daryl Fairweather, Redfin's Chief Economist, "People are seeking out neighborhoods that offer easy access to city amenities without sacrificing the tranquility of small-town life." The South, once a desirable destination due to affordability, has seen its appeal wane as insurance costs and property taxes have risen. In contrast, the Midwest boasts stable insurance rates, low property taxes, and a resilient housing market.
Redfin's report, based on 2025 data from January 1 to February 28, reveals that six of the top 10 neighborhoods are experiencing a shortage of homes for sale, with active listings decreasing from last year. This surge in demand is driving sales at an unprecedented pace, with homes selling quicker than ever before.
The number one hottest neighborhood of 2025 is Prospect Heights and Clinton Hill, Brooklyn, NYC (ZIP code: 11238), where home sales have skyrocketed by 105% compared to the previous year. The median sale price in this charming area stands at $1,397,000, a 3.9% increase from last year.
Fairweather attributes Prospect Heights' top spot to its unique blend of urban convenience and suburban charm: "It's still Brooklyn, but it's a bit more laid-back than Manhattan. People are looking for that balance between job opportunities and space." This neighborhood offers a tranquil oasis in the heart of central Brooklyn, with easy access to the Brooklyn Museum and Prospect Park.

Jenison, Michigan (ZIP code: 49428), ranked second on the list, boasts an affordable median sale price of $356,500 – a mere 0.2% decrease from last year. Fairweather credits Jenison's affordability as a major draw for homebuyers, particularly in a market where mortgage rates are high.
Jenison, a suburb of Grand Rapids, offers easy access to the city's downtown and Lake Michigan, making it an attractive option for those seeking a balance between urban convenience and suburban tranquility.
