Top U.S. Architect Built Only 3 Homes in State; One Recently Sold

Known as Westhope, a striking departure from the designer's typical style of the era.

F
rank Lloyd Wright’s Tulsa masterpiece, West Hope, one of only three of his private homes in Oklahoma and the sole textile‑block example outside California, has closed at $3.56 million. The price, reported by Mansion Global, is roughly 55 % below the $7.99 million asking price set in 2023.

The 10,400‑square‑foot residence, built for Wright’s cousin, newspaper magnate Richard Lloyd Jones, features 5,200 glass panes, five bedrooms, five baths, a pool, a guesthouse, and sits on 1.5 acres. Its geometric block façade and airy interiors earned it a reputation for both beauty and the typical Wright leak problem, a flaw Jones complained about when the house was first completed.

Seller William Stuart Price, a Tulsa real‑estate investor, bought the property from a Tyson Foods heiress for $2.5 million in 2021. He listed it at $3.5 million in February, and after extensive repairs—including waterproofing, kitchen overhaul, and window replacement—found a buyer. The new owners, a young Tulsa‑connected couple, were represented by Peter Walter of Walter & Associates and Rob Allen of Sage Sotheby’s International Realty. Allen said the couple plans to continue restoring and preserving the historic home.
