T
he Real Estate Council (TREC) has made a significant move in its mission to promote affordable housing and strategic partnership development by appointing Dominique Pryor-Anderson as the senior director of community investment for TREC Community Investors. This hire comes on the heels of longtime president and CEO Linda McMahon's departure, with Jamee Jolly taking over as her successor.
Pryor-Anderson brings a wealth of experience to the role, having worked in various capacities including teaching Spanish, real estate, consulting, and public relations. She also served as executive director at the Tennessee Affordable Housing Coalition and director of strategic partnerships and engagement at The Housing Fund, where she helped establish Nashville's first Community Land Trust.
TREC continues to be a driving force for upward mobility through its Dallas Housing Opportunity Fund and plans to launch a Community Land Trust in Dallas. Pryor-Anderson will draw on her 20 years of experience in equitable real estate development and inclusive community engagement to guide the initiative.
The Community Land Trust model, which TREC is planning to implement in Dallas, allows individuals to own homes while the CLT owns the land. This approach helps residents stay in their communities long-term by locking in low prices initially and at resale. Pryor-Anderson has experience with CLTs, including governance, fundraising, and capital strategy.
As TREC Community Investors' senior director of community investment, Pryor-Anderson will focus on relationship building and connecting with community partners to drive equitable development in underserved neighborhoods. She emphasized the importance of education and awareness about CLTs, citing that a lack of information often leads to opposition.
TREC has three main "buckets": membership, the political action committee, and TREC Community Investors. Pryor-Anderson explained that TREC CI operationalizes the gap between commercial real estate developers and community spaces by investing in disinvested communities and energizing neighborhoods through initiatives like CLTs and residential real estate.
President and CEO Jamee Jolly praised Pryor-Anderson's expertise and passion for empowering community-focused development, stating that she is the ideal leader to work alongside community partners and local residents.
