Trump taps billionaire donor Steve Witkoff for inaugural committee leadership

Organization Plans Events Around January 2025 Presidential Inauguration.

P
resident-elect Donald Trump has appointed real estate investor Steve Witkoff as co-chair of the Trump Vance Inaugural Committee. The committee will oversee events surrounding Trump's January 20, 2025 swearing-in ceremony as the 47th president. Witkoff will lead the committee alongside Kelly Loeffler, a former U.S. senator from Georgia.

"This moment marks the beginning of my administration, which will deliver on its promises to Make America Great Again," Trump said in a statement. "Together, we will celebrate this historic occasion and then work towards achieving an incredible future for our people."

Witkoff's business interests include properties in South Florida, including the Dutchman's Pipe Golf Club in West Palm Beach, which features a Jack Nicklaus Signature Course. He was also involved in the redevelopment of the former Banyan Cay Resort & Golf.

In 2019, Witkoff was with Trump at the Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach when a would-be assassin was foiled by Secret Service agents. The alleged gunman, Ryan Routh, did not fire a shot and neither Trump nor Witkoff were injured.

Witkoff has also been linked to a major fundraiser for Trump held on Palm Beach in April 2020, which reportedly raised $50 million. Other notable attendees included hedge fund investor John Paulson and sugar mogul Jose "Pepe" Fanjul.
