A
vintage private jet has been transformed into a unique glamping destination in northwestern Wales. Tamir Ali, 38, purchased the 1970s Hawker jet for an undisclosed sum and spent over $120,000 to convert it into a quirky Airbnb.
The defunct aircraft now boasts a fully functioning kitchen, bathroom, and outdoor sitting area. A guestroom has been created in the cockpit, complete with a small bed. The renovation process involved replacing old carpets with wooden floors, rewiring electrics, and installing a custom-made door.
Ali, who restores classic cars in his spare time, encountered the investment opportunity through a friend in Essex. He envisioned transforming the derelict machine into a cozy rental property from the moment he saw it. The plane was formerly used to transport oil company employees and had been cut in half for ease of transportation when Ali bought it.
Located in Dolgellau, a charming mountain town, Alaya Airways is already a hit on Airbnb, despite listing just three weeks ago. Guests can enjoy the surrounding Eryri National Park, which is 20 minutes away. The unique getaway costs $227 per night and has been named after Ali's youngest daughter.
The renovation process maintained the original cockpit console, giving the space a vintage charm. While it may lack elbow room, Alaya Airways makes up for it with its one-of-a-kind character.
