A
lawsuit has been filed by the University of Central Florida Athletics Association Inc. against Core Group Real Estate, LLC and CORE RE HOLDINGS, LP in Orange County. The complaint alleges that the parties entered into a marketing agreement on March 3, 2022, designating Core as the "Official Real Estate Partner of UCF Athletics."
Under this deal, Core's logo would be displayed at athletic events and in radio ads, while they'd receive game-day perks. They were also allowed to use UCF logos in their advertising. The agreement was set to run until June 30, 2025, with a value of $197,500.
However, Core failed to make payments, prompting UCFAA to send a written notice on September 17, 2024. Ten days later, the company filed for dissolution, citing its intention to cease operations under that entity name. The lawsuit claims that despite this, Core continued to benefit from the agreement by hosting a corporate tailgate and using tickets to attend a UCF football game.
UCFAA alleges that Core operated under a new name, CORE LP, to avoid liabilities. They're seeking $136,416.67 in damages, plus attorney's fees, costs, and interest. The case is set for a non-jury trial on September 14, 2026, with a pre-trial hearing scheduled for August 12.
