A
marketing partnership between UCF Athletics and Core Group Real Estate soured, prompting a lawsuit from the university. The dispute centers on unpaid sponsorship fees, which have ballooned to $136,416 as of the filing date. According to court documents, Core Group failed to make timely payments under their agreement, despite being granted various benefits including digital signage at UCF's Addition Financial Arena and radio advertising.
The partnership, inked in March 2022, was set to run through June 30, 2025. However, by September 2024, Core Group had fallen behind on its scheduled payments. After a written notice of delinquency was sent on September 17, the firm allegedly failed to come current within the five-day cure period.
Core Group's financial woes may have been compounded when it filed articles of dissolution with the Florida Department of State on September 27, 2024. UCF subsequently terminated their agreement with Core Group on October 1, 2024. The university is now seeking reimbursement for unpaid fees, plus attorneys' fees, costs, and interest.
