LI Boston/New England has opened applications for the second cohort of its Center for Leadership, a year‑long, curriculum‑driven program that prepares mid‑career professionals for leadership roles in Boston’s real‑estate and land‑use sectors. Applications close on December 1.
The Center, launched last year, immerses participants in the forces shaping the region’s built environment. Over eleven months, attendees experience eight full‑day sessions—each focused on a distinct topic such as housing, design trends, capital markets, the development process, urban design, and public policy—plus a site tour and a capstone graduation day. Sessions are hosted by partner organizations and take place across Boston, providing hands‑on learning and direct interaction with ULI’s interdisciplinary network.
Curriculum highlights include case studies, panels, and roundtables led by senior practitioners, with embedded leadership development that blends technical knowledge and professional skills. In its first year, 45 leaders from Greater Boston—including executives from BXP, Amazon, MITIMCo, and the City of Boston—shared expertise and insights with participants.
“By offering a structured pathway for mid‑career professionals to deepen their industry knowledge and leadership skills, we’re strengthening the region’s pipeline of future decision‑makers,” said Michelle Landers, Executive Director of ULI Boston/New England.
Ideal candidates are Greater Boston‑based professionals with 10+ years of experience in real‑estate, development, architecture, planning, government, transportation, engineering, finance, sustainability, or community development. They should hold at least a bachelor’s degree and be poised to assume leadership roles within the next two to five years.
Testimonials highlight the program’s impact: Megha Vadula of Mallard Investment Partners praised the Center for exceeding expectations, while Amanda Chiancola of Salem’s Department of Planning noted the program’s value for public policy development.
Applications are open to ULI members and non‑members, with tuition assistance available for qualified applicants. Submit online by December 1 at 5:00 PM. For more details, visit the ULI Boston/New England website.
