ellomy Capital has expanded its Uptown shopping center portfolio with the acquisition of Uptown Plaza, a 34,250-square-foot property at 2222 McKinney Avenue. The local investment firm, led by managing partners Ryan and Sean Bellomy, purchased the center from Edens, which had acquired it in 2015 for $31.9 million ($931 per square foot). Stream Realty Partners represented Bellomy Capital in the transaction.
The shopping center's tenants include Wells Fargo and Potbelly Sandwich Shop, while former tenant Morton's Steakhouse has recently closed. Ryan Bellomy stated that the company has no immediate plans other than to be a good landlord to its tenants, with long-term objectives focused on aligning the property's future with the neighborhood's highest and best use.
Bellomy Capital was founded in 2014 and purchased its first Uptown asset last year, the S&D Oyster Company building. The Bellomy family also owns oil and gas company Bellomy Exploration and has a stake in Rex's Seafood. Stream Realty Partners will continue managing the property, while Thomas Glendenning of Shop Companies will oversee leasing.
