id‑City Mall, a 1960s‑era center with more than a dozen tenants on two floors, was listed for sale over a year ago for an undisclosed price. In July, Georgia developer Gaskins + LeCraw filed a zoning certification with the Metro Office of Planning to build a 54,000‑sq‑ft grocery store and several separate retail structures. Long‑time occupants have either closed or relocated: Nearly New Shop shut down, and Ramen House moved to Spring Street. The former Nearly New space now hosts Nearly New 2 You, a mall‑style vendor collective unrelated to the original shop except for the name.
Beyond the mall, a $1 billion master plan envisions a marina, mixed‑use retail and residential zones, and an amphitheater. The ambitious Southern Indiana redevelopment, dubbed JeffBoat, aims to transform the old shipyard into a waterfront park complex featuring an amphitheater, promenades, fountains, and new residential, retail, and office spaces. The project was projected to span ten years, explaining the slow progress. Last month, Jeffersonville secured a $20 million grant, marking a modest step toward full funding.
