O
n a Wednesday night, Norfolk police received a call about gunfire at approximately 11:55 p.m. near the 1800 block of East Ocean View Avenue. Responding officers discovered a 72‑year‑old woman who had sustained a gunshot wound that was not life‑threatening. The residence, whose windows were shattered, is owned by well‑known local realtor Judy Boone, also 72, who founded Judy Boone Realty in 1988 and has been instrumental in transforming Ocean View from older apartments to modern condominiums and beach homes.
Sentara Norfolk General Hospital confirmed that the woman was in fair condition after treatment. Police have not released the identity of the victim, and the realty firm has declined to comment at this time. Boone, a 1971 Norview High School graduate, grew up in Ocean View as the daughter of a Navy chief. She worked stocking shelves, delivering goods, and operating cash registers before becoming a top‑selling agent. She and her husband constructed their bay‑front home on Ocean View Avenue, complete with a porch overlooking the beach.
The investigation remains active. Norfolk’s Commonwealth Attorney, Ramin Fatehi, stated there is no present threat to residents and that the incident was “not a random offense.” He declined to discuss details of the probe. Police are urging anyone with information to contact the crime line.
