Hamburg-based proptech Immomio is the first company in the housing sector to integrate state digital identity into the letting process. The German federal government selected the company as a launch partner for the d-you Wallet. This interface is intended to counter the increasing automation and distortion of applicant volumes in the housing market.

The background to this development is a structural problem in the rental market: more than twenty providers are now active offering house hunters automated, bot-driven application processes. These systems submit flat enquiries within seconds. For housing companies, this flood of artificial enquiries generates significant additional administrative work, whilst genuine applicants are increasingly left at a disadvantage in the allocation process.

Verification of genuine prospective tenants via d-you Wallet

Integrating the d-you Wallet allows prospective tenants to verify their identity with minimal data sharing and a single click. Landlords and housing companies thereby gain certainty from the moment documents are received that a real person is behind the enquiry. Immomio Managing Director Nicolas Jacobi emphasised that lettings lose their fairness as soon as bots act faster than humans. Digitalisation only serves its purpose if reliability and traceability are preserved.

The procedure will be presented publicly for the first time at the fourth ImmomioCon, taking place on 25 and 26 November 2026 at the Opernloft in the Alter Fährterminal Altona in Hamburg. Alongside the state identity verification, the next generation of the Immomio platform will be unveiled at the industry event. In the previous year, the gathering brought together around 250 specialists and executives.
