BWH Hotels Central Europe is expanding its portfolio in Northern Germany by adding the Strandhotel Sylt in Westerland. The property, located at Margarethenstraße 9, is in direct proximity to Westerland's beach promenade and marks BWH Hotels' first venture on the island of Sylt. It will be integrated into the BW Signature Collection by Best Western.

The Strandhotel Sylt comprises 53 suites and double rooms. Following an initial refresh, comprehensive modernisation is planned for the period from autumn 2027 onwards. This will encompass both technical and design aspects to develop the property into a full-service hotel. The hotel's traditional, North German character is to be preserved.

The planned measures include the redesign of guest rooms, the spa area, and public zones. Furthermore, an expansion of the gastronomic offerings and services is envisaged. André Grimmert is the owner of Strandhotel Sylt. Operations are managed by Heimatquartier Hotels | Events, an owner-managed hotel group under the management of Peter Gebhardt. The collaboration with BWH Hotels Central Europe has existed for several years; four other properties belonging to the group in Münster, Haan, and Velbert are already affiliated with Best Western brands.

With its infrastructure, consisting of an airport, car train, and ICE train station, Westerland represents the central gateway and the most important location on the island. The town features a distinct pedestrian zone, a diverse culinary landscape, exclusive retail offerings, and the well-known beach promenade. The distance to both the sea and Westerland town centre from the new BWH location is approximately 50 metres.

The Strandhotel Sylt currently offers a breakfast restaurant and a spa area, equipped with a Finnish sauna, bio sauna, and steam bath. The spa offerings are complemented by various indoor and outdoor areas designed for relaxation. Marcus Smola, CEO BWH Hotels Central Europe, stated that Sylt is renowned beyond national borders for unique travel experiences, exceptional quality, and a special guest culture. He sees great potential in linking an individual property in this premium location with the international network to provide impetus in upscale holiday tourism.
