SV Hotel, a Swiss hotel management company, is continuing its expansion course and establishing a Moxy Hotel, a Marriott International brand, in Ulm. The opening of this new 146-room property is scheduled for late 2028. The hotel will be built at Bahnhofplatz 2, in the heart of the Ulmer Posthöfe urban development, in the immediate vicinity of Ulm Central Station.
Ulmer Posthöfe GmbH, backed by Merckle Service GmbH, is acting as the contractual partner for this project. The Moxy Ulm is integrated into a comprehensive project for the revitalisation and upgrading of the former Telekom site. The future quarter comprises a total area of approximately 45,000 square metres and is designed for mixed-use, including retail, gastronomy, offices, and a modern hotel. Key aspects of the development are contemporary architecture, sustainability principles, and the activation of the area through diverse user groups.
Architectural Design and Market Positioning
A striking architectural element will be the public hotel area on the fifth floor. This will be realised in a glass structure, offering future guests views of Ulm's Old Town and Ulm Minster. The open communal areas, characteristic of Moxy Hotels, are intended to attract both hotel guests and external visitors, thereby assuming a central function within the quarter's development.
Marco Meier, Managing Director of SV Hotel, stated that Merckle Service GmbH, as the owner, shares a long-term orientation. He emphasised the suitability of the Moxy concept for the Ulm location, the local market, and the Ulmer Posthöfe ensemble. SV Hotel already operates 13 properties under this brand and intends to further deepen its partnership with Marriott in Ulm. Moxy Hotels positions itself in the upper-midscale segment and targets both business and leisure travellers. The brand is known for its design, service, and hospitality experience.
Strategic Importance for Ulm and SV Hotel
Ursula Kriegl, Director Business Development at SV Hotel, added that the Moxy Ulm represents a logical addition to the hotel portfolio. The company's growth strategy continues to focus on central locations in destinations relevant to business and leisure tourism. From a development perspective, the high probability of realisation for this project is also a significant factor.
With the establishment of the Moxy Hotel, a property from Marriott International's brand portfolio will open in Ulm for the first time. This development is regarded as strengthening Ulm's appeal as a travel destination for a national and international audience.
