At the Waldorf Astoria Residences at 303 Park Avenue in Midtown Manhattan, the final details of the residential areas of this iconic hotel are being completed. Here, the phrase "Live, Work, Play" takes on a new dimension, as the residences not only offer over 50,000 square feet of private amenities and programmes but also all the services of the venerable hotel, including room service for residents.
Occupancy of the residential units began last autumn. The latest completed amenity, the private Porte-cochère on East 50th Street, was finished just four weeks ago. International designer Jean-Louis Deniot, who also designed all the residential areas, conceived this double-height, vaulted driveway with sweeping arches and Art Deco-style bronze accents that would impress even royalty.
Leslie Wilson, Senior Executive Vice President at Douglas Elliman Development Marketing, the company responsible for sales and marketing of the Waldorf Astoria Residences, emphasised the exclusivity and functionality of the Porte-cochère. She stated that it allows residents convenient loading and unloading of their vehicles in New York City, with staff immediately available to assist.
Exclusive Amenities for Discerning Residents
Exclusive amenities for residents include the 25-metre pool, known as the "Starlight Pool" in homage to the hotel's legendary "Starlight Roof". Furthermore, there is the indoor pool lounge "Winter Garden" and the 6,000 square foot "Starlight Terrace" with two outdoor kitchens and dining tables overlooking Park Avenue. The offering also includes additional lounges, bars, a games room and a Monte Carlo-style bar, as well as the "Cue Club" for billiards players. The not-yet-completed "Chrysler Room" will provide a private dining area for 46 people, offering spectacular views of the historic Chrysler Building.
- —In the Chrysler Room's demonstration kitchen, residents can cook themselves.
- —Alternatively, a private chef can be hired, or the hotel's catering service can be used.
- —Further luxurious details include bathrooms with deep soaking tubs and elegant spa areas with elaborate feather tile walls.
- —A cinema with a stage for screenings and performances is also available.
The "Presidential Library and Bar" offers a unique experience. Designed in collaboration with the White House Historical Association, it houses bookshelves with biographies of presidents and first ladies, as well as historical artefacts such as presidential china and John F. Kennedy's rocking chair, displayed only on special occasions.
Pricing and Availability
A total of 372 condominiums are available, with additional show apartments being completed progressively. The price range for the residences is between $1.895 million and $18.5 million. Leslie Wilson did not comment on the exact number of units sold to date, but described the living experience as "like being in a film". She added that time there feels as if it stands still.
