Tishman Speyer has appointed Joseph Ghazal, a former top executive at Prologis, as its new Senior Managing Director and Global Head of Growth. This personnel decision was announced on Thursday. Mr Ghazal, who previously served as Global Chief Investment Officer at Prologis, will be responsible for Tishman Speyer's international growth strategy. His main task will be to expand the company's presence in the Middle East and India by identifying acquisition and development opportunities in these markets.

Mr Ghazal expressed his delight at his new position, stating it was an exceptional opportunity to build upon one of the best foundations in global real estate. He looks forward to collaborating with colleagues worldwide and leveraging his international experience to further expand Tishman Speyer's impact and reach. His start date is planned for August, and he will report directly to CEO Rob Speyer from New York City.

During his more than two decades at Prologis, Mr Ghazal held several senior leadership positions across Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and North and South America. In his most recent role as Global Chief Investment Officer, he was responsible for investment strategy, capital deployment, and business development. A spokesperson for Prologis thanked Joseph Ghazal for his contributions and wished him well for his next chapter.

Rob Speyer emphasised that Tishman Speyer has deliberately and successfully doubled down on its growth and diversification strategy over the past decade. The company has entered new international markets, launched a number of investment vehicles, and created new product lines. He explained that Joseph Ghazal, who has spent his entire career doing exactly that, is ideally positioned to significantly shape the company's next era of growth.

Tishman Speyer currently manages US$70 billion in assets across 40 markets in the USA, Europe, Asia, and Latin America. With Mr Ghazal's support, the company plans to expand into several new markets. This does not mean, however, that the company has been inactive at its headquarters in New York City. Last month, Tishman secured US$214 million in construction loans for the development of a 100 per cent affordable housing project in Far Rockaway, Queens. In March, a 59,746-square-foot lease was also signed with Steve Cohen's Point72 Asset Management at The Spiral building.
