The Wyndham Residences Piraeus Marina Zeas recently opened in Piraeus, one of Europe's most significant maritime centres. This project, a collaboration between Wyndham Hotels & Resorts and DKG Development, a Greek real estate investment and development company, integrates the flexibility of individual stays with the service standard of an international hotel brand. The establishment is located directly on Marina Zeas, one of the most prominent locations in the Attica region.
The opening expands Wyndham's presence in Greece and benefits from the increasing importance of Piraeus. The Port of Piraeus handles over 20 million passengers annually, making it Europe's largest port and one of the world's busiest. This frequency establishes Piraeus as a central hub for travel to the Greek islands and as a destination in its own right. The rising passenger numbers generate increased demand for high-quality accommodation options for travellers before and after their onward journey to the islands.
Concept and Facilities of the Property
The Wyndham Residences Piraeus Marina Zeas represents the first internationally branded serviced apartment offering in Piraeus. The property comprises two adjacent eight-storey buildings with a total of 72 suites and residences, 28 of which offer direct views of the sea and the marina. Guests are therefore in close proximity to yacht berths, dining establishments, and cultural attractions. The Dimotiko Theatro metro station ensures convenient access to the centre of Athens, approximately ten kilometres away, and the wider Attica region.
The concept is designed for both short and long stays and reflects the evolution of the branded residences segment, which combines residential comfort with the services of international hotel brands. The offering includes guest rooms, suites, and fully equipped apartments with kitchenettes and living areas. A sea-view suite with a private plunge pool, terrace, and panoramic views over the harbour and the Aegean Sea is among the premium accommodations. Other amenities include a fitness area, a meeting room, and services such as transfers, wellness treatments, and a concierge service.
Strategic Partnership and Market Development
DKG Development has invested over EUR 25 million in the construction of the hotel, whose design was conceived by Jean-Pierre Heim in collaboration with Bletsas Architectural Studio. The location in Marina Zeas underscores Piraeus' transformation into a hotel and lifestyle destination within the Athenian Riviera. This project is part of a broader, non-exclusive agreement between Wyndham Hotels & Resorts and DKG Development, which envisions the development of twelve hotels in Greece. Wyndham Hotels & Resorts thereby reinforces its commitment to the Greek market and continues its expansion in established and emerging destinations.
Vassilis Themelidis, Senior Regional Director South & East Europe at Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, stated that the opening reflects the increasing fusion of short-term, long-term, and temporary living arrangements in the travel and real estate market. Branded Residences are developing into a significant growth segment, particularly in gateway destinations such as Piraeus. There, the demand for flexible and high-quality accommodation for travellers moving between the mainland and the islands is rising. The opening addresses the growing demand in Greece and solidifies Wyndham's presence in the country.
Konstantinos Petridis, Founder, Chairman, and CEO of DKG Development, emphasised that the Wyndham Residences Piraeus Marina Zeas reflects the company's strategy to invest in locations with long-term potential and to enter into partnerships that contribute to the positive development of these destinations. Wyndham Hotels & Resorts brings international reach, brand recognition, and operational expertise, which are crucial for the international positioning of such a project. He noted that Piraeus is evolving beyond its traditional role as a transport hub and that the collaboration creates an offering that meets the expectations of modern travellers and contributes to the city's transformation. Greece is among the five fastest-growing markets in Europe for Branded Residences and is attracting increasing international interest. Wyndham Hotels & Resorts currently operates 15 hotels in Greece, six of which are in Attica.
