Althoff Seehotel Überfahrt recently announced the reopening of the newly designed 4 elements spa by Althoff. The completion was celebrated with representatives from business, tourism, and the ownership. Attendees included Frank Marrenbach, Managing Partner and CEO of Althoff Hotels, and Vincent Ludwig, Managing Director of the establishment. This modernisation underscores the five-star resort's efforts to consolidate its position within the top tier of German hotels and as a leading luxury holiday hotel on Lake Tegernsee. From 8th August 2026, the spa area will be available to hotel guests and, upon individual request, to day guests.
The underlying concept of the 4 elements spa by Althoff, originally conceived by Elke Diefenbach-Althoff, has been consistently further developed in the redesign. The design is based on the four elements of water, fire, air, and earth, which define the various experience worlds. Situated directly on Lake Tegernsee, the spa area combines nature, architecture, and holistic well-being. Facilities include private lake access, a 28-metre indoor pool, which is one of the largest hotel pools in Germany, and spacious, light-flooded relaxation zones. Furthermore, the sauna and fitness areas have been completely redesigned. These elements create space for regeneration and physical activity.
The interior design uses natural materials, gentle lines, and a minimalist aesthetic to echo the atmosphere of Lake Tegernsee. A harmonious connection between indoor and outdoor spaces was aimed for. The comprehensive concept extends from signature experiences in and around the water, to sauna areas and Reformer Pilates, through to functional training. The offering is complemented by beauty treatments, yoga, and meditation. As part of the redesign, the spa reception and spa shop have been centrally positioned on the ground floor, creating a new arrival area for guests. Additionally, a modern children's area has been established in the former spaces of the hairdresser and spa shop, highlighting the hotel's family-friendly approach.
Vincent Ludwig, Managing Director of Althoff Seehotel Überfahrt, commented on the opening by stating that the new spa area modernly advances the character of the establishment. He emphasised the team's achievement in implementing this project. Frank Marrenbach, CEO of Althoff Hotels, highlighted that the continuous development of the hotels is a core component of their quality promise. He described the new spa as an important milestone for Althoff Seehotel Überfahrt, which will sustainably strengthen its position as one of Germany's leading luxury holiday hotels. Marrenbach expressed his gratitude to the lessor, Jost Hurler, for the collaborative partnership, and to Vincent Ludwig and his team for their dedication in its realisation.
The opening of the spa is part of a broader modernisation initiative at the hotel. In the current construction phase, the Überfahrer Bar, the meeting and event rooms, and the two Master Suites have been redesigned, among other things. These measures are complemented by extensive technical modernisations, which further elevate the overall standard of the establishment.
