The Althoff Seehotel Überfahrt in Rottach-Egern, a property within the Althoff Hotels portfolio, has been awarded the highest category of three MICHELIN Keys for the third consecutive time. This accolade positions the establishment as one of only six hotels in Germany to have received this recognition from the Guide MICHELIN for outstanding hotel experiences.
The MICHELIN Keys, introduced in 2024 as an addition to the MICHELIN Stars for restaurants, recognise not only aspects of hospitality and service quality but also the character, architecture and design of the respective establishments. This repeated award comes at a time when the comprehensive modernisation of the Elegant Nature Resort is largely complete.
Extensive Modernisation Measures and Their Impact
Central to the structural renovations is the fully refurbished 4 elements spa by Althoff. This encompasses areas for water, warmth, relaxation and movement, integrating new offerings such as Reformer Pilates and individual rituals. A consistent connection to Lake Tegernsee has been realised throughout. Furthermore, the spa reception and spa shop were repositioned, and a new Kids Club was created.
The meeting and event areas were redesigned, as were the Überfahrer Bar and two Master Suites, which offer a panorama of Lake Tegernsee. In addition, central technical areas of the hotel were modernised. These investments aimed to combine various forms of stay – from relaxation and activity to culinary experiences and family time. At the same time, the location directly on Lake Tegernsee, and the combination of nature, personal service, architecture and design as the essence of the establishment, were preserved.
Consideration of the Award in the Context of Corporate Strategy
Managing Director Vincent Ludwig expressed positive sentiments about the award, interpreting it as confirmation of the perceived and appreciated further development of the Seehotel Überfahrt. He highlighted the role of the Jost Hurler Group as owner and Althoff Hotels for their trust and long-term commitment. He also emphasised the dedication of the entire team, which shaped and supported the development. Ludwig underlined the necessity of the shared responsibility and passion of many stakeholders to implement a project of this magnitude.
The MICHELIN Keys were introduced in 2024 and recognise the most outstanding hotels within the Guide MICHELIN's worldwide selection, which is set to include over 9,000 establishments by 2026. In the initial awards, a total of 155 hotels were honoured with three MICHELIN Keys, 657 hotels with two Keys, and 2,020 establishments with one Key.
