Aroundtown has equipped its entire real estate portfolio in the Netherlands with Smartvatten technology for digital monitoring and analysis of water consumption. This implementation marks another step in the company's sustainable portfolio development. Following the comprehensive BREEAM certification of the Dutch office portfolio, the water infrastructure has now also been consistently digitalised. The introduction of Smartvatten enables transparent monitoring of water consumption, which is intended to contribute to a reduction in overall consumption and the early identification of leaks.
Smartvatten technology, founded in Finland in 2013, supports real estate companies with data-based solutions to increase transparency and potentially reduce water consumption. In Aroundtown's German portfolio, the technology has been progressively implemented for two years already, with continuous expansion in further properties being accelerated.
The integration of Smartvatten creates an improved data basis for managing water consumption within buildings. While the entire Dutch portfolio was equipped with Smartvatten at the main water meters, specific properties such as Newton House, Beta Building, and Dalí also received sub-meters. Through continuous collection and analysis of consumption data, efficiency potentials can be precisely identified and operational processes optimised. Furthermore, the system enables early detection of irregularities in water consumption and the initiation of appropriate repair measures.
The implementation also contributes to improving sustainability ratings and increases transparency for tenants. Ms. Limor Bermann, Chief Sustainability Officer at Aroundtown, stated that the company considers digital infrastructure an essential component of sustainable real estate management. The full rollout in the Netherlands strengthens the ability to manage resources more efficiently, improve transparency, and create long-term value across the entire portfolios.
