Aurelis is currently developing the second construction phase of the Rheinpreußen Business Park in Duisburg-Homberg. This project involves the construction of three buildings on a plot of approximately 37,000 square metres, which will provide a total of around 13,400 square metres of rental space. A significant portion of this space has already been secured through a long-term lease agreement.
CPI Vertex Antennentechnik GmbH, a company that produces antenna systems for applications including aerospace, research, and defence, will occupy 4,270 square metres of the new space. This accounts for approximately one-third of the total rental space being created in the second construction phase. It is noteworthy that CPI Vertex Antennentechnik GmbH is already a tenant with Aurelis, currently utilising approximately 5,120 square metres in the adjacent existing buildings.
The additional space in the new build will enable CPI Vertex Antennentechnik GmbH to further expand at the Duisburg site. Peter Fasel, Managing Director of Vertex, stated that moving into the adjacent new building from May 2027 represents an ideal option for further growth. The conditions for this long-term corporate development were established in collaboration with InvestSupport, Duisburg Business & Innovation, and the Duisburg city administration.
The completion of the commercial premises is scheduled for the second quarter of 2027 and will be carried out under the supervision of general contractor GEwerk. The new build will be implemented according to modern criteria for sustainable construction. This includes improved hall insulation and LED lighting to reduce energy consumption. Furthermore, the heating and cooling of the hall and office spaces will be carried out without fossil fuels.
A photovoltaic system is planned to generate tenant electricity, thereby contributing to the sustainable energy supply of the site. The property aims for DGNB Gold certification. Björn Zimmer, Head of Aurelis Region West, emphasised that the second construction phase creates additional, flexibly usable space for businesses. The ability to support an existing tenant like Vertex early in its development confirms both the attractiveness of the location and the decision to speculatively expand the business park.
Already in November 2023, Aurelis had completed an expansion hall in the first construction phase on Baumstraße. That property had been fully leased to the Chinese trading company Yixinou International Freight GmbH even before its completion.
