Bahlsen GmbH & Co. KG has concluded a long-term lease agreement for retail space in Cologne. The lease is for the Stollwerck-Haus, located at Hohe Straße 160–168. The company plans to open its first city centre location in North Rhine-Westphalia at this address in autumn 2026. Hohe Straße is considered one of Germany's busiest shopping streets and offers high visibility.
Colliers acted as the mediating advisor in this transaction process, supporting Bahlsen in its search for premises. The leased premises comprise a sales area of approximately 400 square metres, located on the ground floor of the property. This step underlines the strategic importance of Cologne as a location for Bahlsen and the company's long-term commitment to the region.
Strategic Location and Market Significance
Hohe Straße is one of Germany's prime retail locations. Its attractiveness is significantly influenced by its immediate proximity to Cologne Cathedral and the high volume of tourists. By opening this new location, Bahlsen strengthens its presence in brick-and-mortar retail. The aim is to create an appealing offering for customers in the heart of Cologne city centre.
Daniel Stallmach, Senior Director and Head of Retail Letting NRW at Colliers, stated that with this lease in the Stollwerck-Haus, Bahlsen has secured an excellently visible location on one of Germany's most important shopping streets. He emphasised that this decision demonstrates the continuing relevance of high-quality space in prime city centre locations for strong brands. The transaction proves the undiminished importance of physical sales presence for established companies in high-traffic areas.
