The Bavarian State Ministry for Housing, Building and Transport has been awarded the German Brand Award 2026 for its "Foyer Dialogues". The award in the "Excellence in Brand Strategy and Creation" category was presented by the German Design Council in Berlin. This honour recognises the concept of an event series that promotes exchange between experts and designers in key thematic areas of building and transport.
State Minister Bernreiter emphasised the relevance of the ministry's areas of activity for shaping the future of the state. He explained that it was of great importance for his ministry to actively maintain contact with experts and designers. The "Foyer Dialogues" were established as a key platform for this purpose, to build networks and generate new impetus. He expressed his pleasure at the establishment and now the recognition of the brand, thanking his employees and the agency "KW Neun" from Augsburg for their commitment.
Format and thematic focus of the dialogues
The "Foyer Dialogues" have so far held six events within the ministry's premises, hosting over 1,500 participants. The format includes evening receptions with specialist lectures, discussion rounds, and opportunities for open exchange. The topics covered are diverse, ranging from infrastructure issues in road and rail, through building typology-e and digitisation in urban development, to mobility questions and future strategies for existing buildings.
Accompanying each dialogue, a thematically relevant exhibition is opened. These presentations are usually accessible for another two weeks in the foyer of the Ministry of Building and Transport. Minister Bernreiter announced that he would use the momentum generated by the award to continue the event series in autumn, as socially relevant discourses must be conducted continuously.
Recognition of the concept
In its reasoning, the jury of the German Brand Award particularly highlighted the successful development of a recognisable format for continuous professional exchange. It praised how complex topics were successfully translated into a clear and dialogue-oriented brand platform. This underscores the effectiveness of the concept in communicating and discussing relevant content in the context of Bavaria's building and transport policy.
