Andreas Pfaff will assume leadership of Berlin Hyp's North/West sales region from 1 July 2026. In this role, he will be responsible for the Hamburg, Düsseldorf and Frankfurt offices. Pfaff, who previously headed the Hamburg branch of LBBW's commercial real estate financier, succeeds Oliver Hecht. Following this handover, Mr Hecht will fully concentrate on his duties on the Berlin Hyp Management Board under the chairmanship of Sascha Klaus.

Tobias Matheis will succeed Andreas Pfaff as head of the Hamburg branch. These personnel decisions mark a reorganisation in the bank's regional leadership structure.

Strengthening regional presence and expertise

Andreas Pfaff commented on his new role. He aims to further expand Berlin Hyp's efficiency, specifically deepen market penetration in the locations for which he is responsible, and continue a sustainable growth trajectory. Even in a dynamic market environment, customers should be supported as stable and high-performing partners, which also applies to the Sparkassen network partners. The handover of responsibility for the Hamburg branch to Tobias Matheis was made with reference to his significant development within Berlin Hyp.

Sascha Klaus, LBBW Management Board member and Chairman of the Berlin Hyp Management Board, praised Andreas Pfaff's extensive expertise in commercial real estate financing across all asset classes and customer groups. He emphasised Pfaff's commitment to Berlin Hyp and his contribution to overall success. Mr Klaus also thanked Oliver Hecht for his dedication and mentioned the continuation of their joint Management Board work since the beginning of the year. He wished Tobias Matheis success in his new role as branch manager in Hamburg.

Careers at Berlin Hyp

Andreas Pfaff has been with Berlin Hyp since 2010. As branch manager in Hamburg, the real estate economist reorganised the office, optimised market penetration in Hamburg, and contributed to a significant increase in business volume. As Deputy Head of Division, he was involved in strategic bank projects and supported the development of the business segment as well as Berlin Hyp's market position. Prior to his work at Berlin Hyp, Pfaff worked for Barclays Capital and Aareal Bank, among others.

Tobias Matheis began his career at Berlin Hyp 17 years ago as a trainee. He then continued his career as an account manager in the Hamburg branch. Since 2014, he has been responsible there as Senior Account Manager for looking after institutional investors across various asset classes, achieving a high market presence.
