BKW Engineering, a division of the Swiss energy and infrastructure company BKW, is expanding its service portfolio in building construction through the targeted acquisition of two specialised companies. As part of its “Solutions 2030” strategy, Priedemann Fassadenberatung GmbH from Germany and KS Ingenieure GmbH from Austria have been integrated into the BKW Engineering network. These transactions serve to strengthen competencies in the growing markets for facades, sustainable building envelopes, structural engineering and general planning, while simultaneously expanding BKW's market presence in Germany and Austria.
BKW's corporate strategy “Solutions 2030” aims for profitable growth in the Infrastructure & Buildings business segment, particularly in the areas of planning, construction and maintenance of infrastructure and buildings. The BKW Engineering network already functions as the largest association of independent engineering, architectural, appraisal and inspection companies in the DACH region. It comprises more than 4,000 employees in over 40 companies at around 130 locations and offers specialised expertise from a single source.
Founded in 1993, Priedemann Fassadenberatung GmbH, headquartered in Großbeeren near Berlin, is one of the leading engineering firms for the planning of complex facades worldwide. The company employs around 130 staff and supports construction projects from concept development through to approval and execution planning, as well as construction supervision and quality assurance. Through the integration of Priedemann, BKW Engineering expands its expertise in the planning of complex building envelopes, facade engineering, thermal building physics, glass statics, and digital planning methods such as Building Information Modelling (BIM). Mr. Lars Anders will continue to be responsible for the management of Priedemann Fassadenberatung GmbH.
KS Ingenieure GmbH, a civil engineering office based in Vienna, was founded in 1991 and employs 53 staff. The company offers services in structural engineering, building physics, project management, tendering and awarding, local site supervision, construction management, and technical consulting. A focus is on complex building construction projects, where digital planning methods such as BIM are also used. The acquisition strengthens BKW Engineering in Austria and expands its competencies in sustainable structural engineering and general planning in building construction. The company brings references from residential construction, commercial properties, high-rise buildings, and infrastructure. Mr. Matthäus Groh, Mr. Ingo Bormann, and Mr. Bernhard Wisser will take over the management of KS Ingenieure in the future, while Mr. Klaus Stanek will be available in an advisory capacity.
Mr. Martin Fecke, CEO of BKW Engineering, explained that Priedemann and KS Ingenieure ideally complement the network both professionally and geographically. Priedemann’s outstanding expertise in facade planning and the strengthening of structural and general planning competencies in Austria through KS Ingenieure create additional value for customers in the DACH region and make an important contribution to the implementation of the BKW Group’s corporate strategy.
