Duisburger Hafen AG, known as duisport, is seeing a personnel change at executive level. Giordana Sperling-Doppstadt will leave the company on 31 December 2026. This step is at her own request, as she wishes to pursue new professional challenges. The Supervisory Board of Duisburger Hafen AG unanimously approved this request.
State Secretary Viktor Haase, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Duisburger Hafen AG, commented on the decision. He thanked Ms Sperling-Doppstadt on behalf of the entire Supervisory Board for her commitment and the impetus she provided during her time at Duisburger Hafen AG. Haase emphasised that her work made significant contributions to the company's development. He respected her decision and regretted her departure but wished her every success for her professional and personal future.
Responsibilities and Transition Period
Giordana Sperling-Doppstadt only moved to duisport from RWE Offshore Wind on 1 January 2025. In her role as a member of the Executive Board, she was responsible for a broad range of company divisions, including Human Resources, Procurement, Legal, Accounting, Operational IT, Marketing, and Process Management. These departments are of substantial importance for the strategic direction and operational business of a port operator.
Following her departure, the areas she previously managed will temporarily be led by CEO Markus Bangen and COO/CTO Lars Nennhaus. This interim solution ensures the continuity of business operations and internal organisation. The Supervisory Board of Duisburger Hafen AG will address the re-staffing of the position in due course and decide on the further course of action. This underscores the diligence with which such personnel decisions are made in a company of duisport's magnitude.
Significance for Duisport
Duisburg Port, as the largest inland port in the world, plays a central role in European logistics. Personnel changes in the Executive Board, especially in the aforementioned administrative and operational core areas, are therefore of strategic relevance for the company's further development. The leadership provided by Mr Bangen and Mr Nennhaus ensures that the business strategy and ongoing projects will continue seamlessly, while the Supervisory Board works on a long-term solution for the vacant position.
