The Contipark Group has acquired the Ankergärten car park in Bielefeld. The takeover of the property was completed on 1 June 2026. With this acquisition, which includes 804 parking spaces, the company is rigorously pursuing its long-term defined growth and investment strategy.
The Ankergärten car park is one of the most extensive parking properties in Bielefeld's city centre. It complements Contipark's existing activities in the region and strengthens the company's market position in the Ostwestfalen-Lippe area. The seller of the property was Parkhaus Hermannstraße GmbH & Co KG., a subsidiary of the Bautra Group from Bielefeld, which is known as a leading developer and real estate investor in the region. Confidentiality was agreed upon regarding the purchase price.
Strategic portfolio expansion and regional presence
Contipark has for some time been pursuing a conscious strategy of successively increasing the proportion of its own properties in its portfolio. In addition to the operational management of parking facilities, the focus is on the acquisition and sustainable development of parking properties in economically vital metropolitan areas. Andreas Knops, a member of the management board of the Contipark Group, stated that the acquisition of the Ankergärten car park underpins the course towards expanding its own portfolio of parking properties. Well-positioned car parks are an essential component of urban infrastructure and offer stable long-term prospects. The company therefore invests specifically in locations with substantial potential. Bielefeld is considered an economically robust market in which Contipark intends to expand its commitment.
This acquisition significantly strengthens Contipark's presence in Bielefeld. Only recently, the company completed comprehensive modernisations at the Ritterstraße car park, with its official re-opening scheduled for July. In total, both locations have a capacity of more than 1,200 parking spaces in a central city centre location.
Significance for urban infrastructure
The continued investments in car parks in central locations emphasise their relevance for the accessibility and functionality of urban centres. Contipark's strategic focus on building its own real estate portfolio indicates a long-term appreciation of this asset class. The focus on economically strong cities such as Bielefeld underlines the company's conviction in the stability and future demand for well-managed parking facilities.
