The Designer Motel glockna is being realised in Fusch am Großglockner, in the Salzburg region. This project aims to create a connection between relaxation and active holidays. The architectural design of the motel is inspired by the scenic characteristics of the Tauern King, the Großglockner.
Behind the development are Helmut Wimreiter and Nicole Köhlbichler. Both are involved in the realisation of this new hospitality concept within the Hohe Tauern National Park. Helmut Wimreiter, a trained chef, grew up in the hotel and catering industry. He was socialised in the former "Bärenwirt" in Fusch on the Großglocknerstraße. Nicole Köhlbichler, as a business partner, brings commercial experience, based on a banking education and a Master's degree from the MCI Management Center Innsbruck.
Helmut Wimreiter founded the company Event-Cars, Catering & Event Service in 2010, which has since established itself as a successful catering provider. The joint entrepreneurial activity of Wimreiter and Köhlbichler began in 2016 with the takeover of the family business, the former "Bärenwirt", and the founding of Bärenwirt Besitz GmbH. In 2019, this was followed by the establishment of Event-Gastro GmbH, which operates the airport restaurant "Die Fliegerei" in Zell am See.
The Motivation Behind the Designer Motel glockna
With the Designer Motel glockna, Helmut Wimreiter and Nicole Köhlbichler are entering a further phase of their commitment to the hospitality sector. Helmut Wimreiter highlights that Nicole Köhlbichler brings an instinct for lifestyle, structure, and guest well-being, which is relevant to their joint projects. Nicole Köhlbichler adds that the founding of Event-Gastro GmbH already demonstrated foresight. The Designer Motel glockna therefore represents a venture whose success they confidently assess.
The opening of the modern hotel concept is scheduled for the second half of 2026. The project's development integrates the couple's previous entrepreneurial experiences and a strong connection to the regional environment. Furthermore, the Wimreiter family's decades of expertise in the hospitality sector are being incorporated into the new undertaking. These elements form the basis for the realisation of the Designer Motel glockna.
