In the 6-Seen-Wedau development area in Duisburg, the laying of the foundation stone for the residential project nyoo lime marks further construction progress. Project company Nyoo Real Estate, part of Instone Group, held the ceremony in the presence of Duisburg's Lord Mayor Sören Link. At the same time, the company opened a first completed show townhouse for viewing in the more advanced neighbouring project nyoo berry.
Serial construction and efficiency standards at nyoo lime
Following the completion of earthworks and foundation work, four apartment buildings with 69 condominiums and 16 townhouses are being built on the nyoo lime site. The apartment buildings are being constructed using timber-hybrid methods, combining prefabricated timber elements with mineral construction. The townhouses are being built entirely from timber using prefabricated components as part of off-site construction.
Certified as a KlimaQuartier.NRW, the scheme meets the Efficiency House 40 standard and will be connected to the district heating network. The buildings are arranged around a car-free courtyard with play and amenity areas. All residential units will have private outdoor spaces in the form of balconies, terraces or gardens. Infrastructure also includes an underground car park with 92 car parking spaces and around 100 sheltered bicycle spaces.
Progress at nyoo berry and neighbourhood development
In the sister project nyoo berry, the structural shell for 87 condominiums and 14 townhouses has already been completed. While interior fit-out is well advanced, landscaping work is progressing in parallel. Stefan Dahlmanns, Managing Director of Nyoo Real Estate GmbH, highlighted the combination of serial planning and optimised construction processes, which is creating housing tailored to demand for the Neue Gartenstadt.
The wider 6-Seen-Wedau neighbourhood is being developed on the site of a former railway shunting yard in the direct vicinity of the lake chain. Duisburg's Lord Mayor Sören Link emphasised the project as a forward-looking step that creates urgently needed housing and underlines the confidence of private and municipal partners in the location. Construction work has also begun on neighbouring plots, accompanied by initial local amenities.
