European flexible workspace operator infinitSpace is venturing into the US market. The company has secured 32,000 square feet of space in Downtown Los Angeles. This marks the beginning of an ambitious plan to open 30 locations in the United States within the next two years.
The announcement was made on Tuesday. infinitSpace has entered into a long-term management partnership with the historic Desmond’s Building at 612 South Broadway. The new coworking facility, which will operate under infinitSpace’s Beyond brand, is scheduled to open its doors on 2 November.
Scope of the New Location and Business Model
The workspaces span the second to fifth floors of the building and offer capacity for around 400 members. The offering includes private offices, shared workspaces, meeting rooms, and lounges. Additionally, a rooftop event area will be available. An option for the sixth floor could expand the total area by another 8,500 square feet to approximately 40,500 square feet.
Unlike traditional coworking operators who lease spaces directly from landlords, infinitSpace pursues an “asset-light” management model. In this model, property owners retain ownership and long-term control over their buildings. infinitSpace, meanwhile, takes over the operation of the workspaces, sales, marketing, and technology, including an AI platform for automating administrative tasks.
The opening in Los Angeles is infinitSpace’s 15th location worldwide. The company serves over 8,000 members across three continents and expects to reach around 10,000 members by the end of the year. The initial US expansion will focus on the metropolitan areas of Los Angeles, San Francisco, Austin, Seattle, and New York. Wybo Wijnbergen, CEO and co-founder of infinitSpace, stated that property owners are looking for ways to make their buildings more productive, while companies desire flexibility without compromising the quality of their workspace. The company’s partnership model and technology were developed to meet both these needs.
Background of the Desmond’s Building
The Desmond’s Building was opened in 1924 in Downtown L.A.’s Broadway Theatre District as the flagship store of clothing retailer Desmond’s. A company led by Jonathan Kim acquired the building in 2024 for 16.1 million dollars, according to records.
